Bill Skillend Prize 2019

The British Association of Korean Studies is extremely pleased to announce the Bill Skillend Prize 2019.

This prize is awarded in commemoration of the late Professor Bill Skillend to an undergraduate student submitting an outstanding dissertation on a Korea-related topic. Professor Bill Skillend was a pioneer in the study of Korean language and literature and responsible for the introduction of its instruction in Britain.

In memory of the late Professor Bill Skillend, a sum of up to £200 is available as Prize money.

The competition is open to any undergraduate student, studying at a university in Britain, who would like to present for consideration a dissertation/Final Project/Independent Study Project on a Korea-related topic. The text should be typewritten, and not exceed 12,000 words.

The submitted work should be no more than 4 months old at the closing date, and must be submitted as an electronic (pdf) version to Prof Hazel Smith hs50@soas.ac.uk, and cc’ed to BAKS President, Charlotte Horlyck ch10@soas.ac.uk
