Lecturer in Korean Studies–12 months fixed term

The School of Language and Global Studies is looking for an experienced Lecturer in Korean Studies to join our thriving programme. You will be expected to contribute to the academic development, course management, teaching, research development and scholarship within the School in the area of Korean and in particular North Korean Studies.

The role will include contributing to the delivery of a Korean and North Korean Studies modules, developing teaching materials, working with the team to develop the programme, and assessing student work. You will also make a contribution in research and income generating activities of the School.

The successful candidate will have knowledge and expertise in North Korea as well as practical/professional experience of teaching and researching within an HE environment. The successful candidate must also hold a PhD (or near completion) in a relevant discipline and a REF-able Publications Profile. They should have a flexible and innovative approach to teaching, supported by excellent communication and presentation skills, as well as a working knowledge of Korean Language. A relevant professional qualification or experiential learning is essential, along with IT skills and will be able to work effectively both individually and as part of a team.
